The EWP Training over 11 metres training course specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a boom-type elevating work platform where the length of the boom is 11 metres or more. This is a nationally recoginised training course.
Upon successful completion of the EWP over 11 metre training course applicants will be able to apply for their High Risk Work Licence (WP), Licence To Operate A Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform (boom length 11 metres or more).

We also offer a combination of training course which includes the over 11 metre training course, and the EWPA Trained Operator Course with SL scissor lift and BL knuckle boom lift for $890.00.

Prerequisites:
There are no formal prerequisites for this course.
Participants must be 18 years old.
A basic mathematical ability to assist in completing formulas and ability to understand technical concepts such as instructions for emergency lowering systems, wind speed ratings, variable rated capacity restrictions, operator’s manuals, risk assessments and logbook checklists.
Basic command of the English language to be able to participate training and assessment tasks.
A satisfactory level of health and fitness to carry out duties safely.
Course Introduction:
The EWP training course Boom-type elevating work platform means a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device, or any combination of these, used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated.
This unit requires a person operating a boom-type elevating work platform to plan the work,
conduct routine checks, set up elevating work platform, operate elevating work platform, and
shut down and secure elevating work platform.
A person performing this work is required to hold a High Risk Work (HRW) licence.
Applicants are required to under go a minimum two day training course prior to attending a Safework assessment.
Course Outline
1 Plan work
Potential workplace hazards are identified
Hazard control measures are identified consistent with appropriate standards to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment
Elevating work platform is appropriate for the task
Appropriate communications methods are identified
2 Conduct routine checks
Service logbook for elevating work platform is checked for compliance
Elevating work platform is visually checked for damage or defects in accordance with procedures
Routine pre-operational checks are carried out in accordance with procedures
Safety equipment is inspected in accordance with procedures
Elevating work platform is accessed in a safe manner
Safety equipment is fitted and secured to elevating work platform in accordance with procedures
All controls are located and identified
Elevating work platform is started in accordance with procedures
All safety devices are identified and tested in accordance with procedures
Post-start operational checks are carried out in accordance with procedures
Communications equipment is checked for serviceability
All damage and defects are reported and recorded in accordance with procedures, and appropriate action is taken
3 Set up elevating workplatform
Ground suitability is inspected and checked
Elevating work platform is driven to or located at work area in accordance with procedures
Elevating work platform is positioned for work application and stability in accordance with procedures
Appropriate hazard prevention/control measures are applied to work area in accordance with procedures
Work gear and tools are stowed and secured
4 Operate elevating work platform
Elevating work platform is operated using all relevant plant movements in accordance with procedures and appropriate standards
Elevating work platform is mobilised using best mobile practice and appropriate procedures
Elevated working platform operations are monitored constantly, to ensure safety of personnel and stability
Unplanned and/or unsafe situations are responded to in accordance with procedures
5 Shut down and secure elevating work platform
Elevating work platform is lowered and stowed in accordance with procedures
Relevant motion locks and brakes are applied as required
Safety equipment is disconnected from platform
Egress from elevated work platform is conducted in accordance with procedures
Outriggers/stabilisers are stowed and secured in accordance with procedures as required
Plates or packing are stowed and secured as required
Elevating work platform is shut down in accordance with procedures
Routine post-operational checks are carried out in accordance with procedures
Damage and defects are reported and recorded in accordance with procedures, and appropriate action is taken
Learning Outcome
On successful completion of this course, participants will have gained the following skills and knowledge to:
Assessing hazards and planning the work.
Conducting routine checks of equipment.
Setting up the elevating work platform.
Operating the elevating work platform.
Shutting down and securing the elevating work platform.
Successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment – TLILIC0005 Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more) and a Notice of Satisfactory Assessment, form to lodge at Australia Post for a National Licence to Perform High Risk Work (HRW) for Class – WP.
To apply for a HRW licence, the HRW assessment paperwork and application form together with a passport sized photo must be lodged at an Australia Post outlet and pay the lodgement fee, this must be done within 60 days of completion of your HRW assessment.
If a student fails to lodge their paperwork within 60 days this will result in the operator being deemed an unlicenced operator and full training and/or assessing fees will apply after the 60-day period.
Currently a HRW Licence is valid 5 years from the date of issue, however If your address changes within this period we suggest licence holders update their details with the relevant authorities, failure to do so may result in the licence renewal not being received and renewal period lapsing, resulting in training and assessment needing to be completed again, full course payments would apply.
Assessment Conditions
Safe Work NSW Conditions Of assessment:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Suitable clothing such as safety boots, long pants and high-vis shirt.
Able to produce 100 points of identification. Please see link below.
Ability to communicate and understand English at a level that allows the student to participate in the training and assessment.
An Oral assessments can be arranged for applicants with writing and reading difficulties, however, are still required to complete a LLN as part of their enrollment. Additional charges will apply for a oral assessment.

Course Name: Verification of Competency for - Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more)
Course Cost: $300 per person.
Duration: 4 - 6 hours
Prerequisites:
Applicants must hold a current HRW licence or relevant unit of competency for the VOC being assessed.
Ability to read and write basic English.
Ability to pass a language, literacy & numeracy assessment (LLN).
Provide two forms of identification.
May provide verified work documents, logbooks or other evidence of competency to support their evidence of experience.
All persons attending assessment must wear steel capped or safety boots; sun protection, hard hat, long sleeved shirt and pants are also recommended for this site.
Course Introduction:
This assessment will determine the operators current ability to demonstrate competency for TLILIC0005 Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more), in the application of
Assessing hazards and planning work.
Process for conducting routine checks of equipment.
Correct procedures for setting up the elevating work platform.
Correct operation of the elevating work platform.
Shutting down and securing the elevating work platform.

VOC Outcome
Licence holders successfully demonstrating competency will be provided with a photo ID Card stating the VOC attained.
Licence holders who are unable to demonstrate competency will receive written feedback regarding the elements of competency that were lacking, and the nature of the gap training required prior to re-assessment.
We suggest workers that fail to demonstrate successful knowledge of the competency to re-sit the VET course in question.
Cancellations
Fees
Jack Australia charges fees for providing training services to students who undertake training and assessment that leads to a nationally recognised outcome’s. These charges are generally for items such as course materials, text books, student services and training and assessment services.
Fees are payable when a student or employer has received a confirmation of enrolment. The full course payment must be made seven (7) days prior to commencing training. The current fees and charges for training are as per advertised.
Cancellation Of Enrolment
Cancellation of enrolment must be given either by phone or via email. The student may be advised of other options such as suspending the enrolment and re-commencing in another scheduled training program.
Students who give written notice to cancel their enrolment and who are eligible for a refund will receive their refund within 14 days.
Refunds
The following refund policy will apply:
Notice given to cancel course enrolment more than 7 days prior to the commencement of a training program, will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid.
Any notice given to cancel an enrolment less than 7 days prior to the commencement of a training course will be entitled to a 50% refund of fees paid of full course fee payment. The 50% retained by Jack Australia is required to cover the cost of staff, resources, and lost revenue from potential students wanting to enrol/ attend the course.
Students who cancel their enrolment after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of any fees.
Charges
Jack Australia may levy some miscellaneous charges for services.
These may include:
Re-issuing a certificate after it has been initially issued to a student.
Replacing issued learning materials which the student has lost or damaged
Re-assessment services
Student complaints about fees or refunds
Students who are unhappy with Jack Australia’s arrangements for the collection and refunding of tuition fees are entitled to lodge a complaint.
Training Location
Our training location is in Sydney at Riverstone in North Western Sydney.
We are located within close proximity to Riverstone railway station, 1km walk to our training site from the train station. Or approximately 20-30 minutes drive from Parramatta, Blacktown, and Windsor or 5 minute drive from Rouse hill Town centre.
Please note that if you are using GPS, be sure type in Riverstone Parade, as there is a Riverstone Road near by. However, if using Google Maps, best to type in Riverstone Business Park, as this will be easily located.
Once you arrive, please advise the gate house keeper you are attending training at Jack Australia, he will direct you to our location.
