Course Outline
1. Plan and prepare for skid steer loader operations
Access, interpret and apply skid steer loader operations
documentation.
Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements.
Identify hazards and environmental issues, assess the risks and implement control measures in line with workplace policies.
Select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activities.
Obtain, identify and implement traffic signage requirements according to standard operating procedures and safe work practices.
Select required skid steer equipment and confirm suitability for work activities.
Obtain and interpret emergency procedures for skid steers, and be prepared for fires, accidents and emergencies.
Coordinate and communicate planned activities with others at the site prior to commencement of work activity.
2. Operate skid steer loader in line with established requirements
Carry out prestart and start-up checks in line with workplace procedures.
Identify faults or defects and rectify or report within scope of own responsibility and according to workplace procedures.
Drive and operate loader using techniques suited to equipment capabilities and site work conditions, and according to workplace procedures.
Monitor hazards and risks during operations, and ensure safety of self, other personnel, plant and equipment.
Monitor and manage equipment performance using indicators and alarms.
3. Load, carry and place materials to complete work activity
Establish weight of load and ensure it is within safe operational limits of the machine.
Position machinery to ensure stable and effective shift of materials according to work requirements.
Shift materials safely and effectively, using hand audible and communication signals, in line with workplace procedures.
Park up, shut down, secure and carry out post operational inspection of equipment in line with workplace procedures.
4. Select, remove, fit and use attachments for a skid steer loader
Select appropriate attachment and required equipment for the task, and in accordance with safe working load requirements.
Fit attachment in line with workplace procedures.
Test attachment and ensure correct fitting and operation.
Use attachment within design limits and in accordance with workplace procedures.
Remove, clean and store attachments in designated location in line with workplace procedures.
5. Prepare to relocate the skid steer loader
Prepare for relocation of skid steer loader.
Move skid steer loader safely within and/or between work areas, observing relevant codes and traffic management requirements.
Assist loading and unloading machine from float/trailer in accordance with safe work practices.
6. Conduct housekeeping activities
Clear work area and dispose of or recycle materials according to workplace procedures.
Manage and/or report hazards to maintain a safe working environment.
Complete and file or distribute documentation in a manner that complies with workplace practices.

Assessment Conditions
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Suitable clothing such as safety boots, long pants and high-vis shirt.
Able to produce current photo identification.
Ability to communicate and understand English at a level that allows the student to participate in the training and assessment.
An Oral assessments can be arranged for applicants with writing and reading difficulties, however, are still required to complete a LLN as part of their enrollment. Additional charges will apply for a oral assessment.

Course Cost: $300 per person. Minimum three people required to run this course.
Duration: 4-6 hours
Prerequisites:
Applicants must hold a current SOA or relevant unit of competency for the VOC being assessed.
Ability to read and write basic English.
Ability to pass a language, literacy & numeracy assessment (LLN).
Provide two forms of identification.
May provide verified work documents, logbooks or other evidence of competency to support their evidence of experience.
All persons attending assessment must wear steel capped or safety boots; sun protection, hard hat, long sleeved shirt and pants are also recommended for this site.

VOC Outcome
Licence holders successfully demonstrating competency will be provided with a photo ID Card stating the VOC attained.
Licence holders who are unable to demonstrate competency will receive written feedback regarding the elements of competency that were lacking, and the nature of the gap training required prior to re-assessment.
We suggest workers that fail to demonstrate successful knowledge of the competency to re-sit the VET course in question.
Cancellations
Fees
Jack Australia charges fees for providing training services to students who undertake training and assessment that leads to a nationally recognised outcome’s. These charges are generally for items such as course materials, text books, student services and training and assessment services.
Fees are payable when a student or employer has received a confirmation of enrolment. The full course payment must be made seven (7) days prior to commencing training. The current fees and charges for training are as per advertised.
Cancellation Of Enrolment
Cancellation of enrolment must be given either by phone or via email. The student may be advised of other options such as suspending the enrolment and re-commencing in another scheduled training program.
Students who give written notice to cancel their enrolment and who are eligible for a refund will receive their refund within 14 days.
Refunds
The following refund policy will apply:
Notice given to cancel course enrolment more than 7 days prior to the commencement of a training program, will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid.
Any notice given to cancel an enrolment less than 7 days prior to the commencement of a training course will be entitled to a 50% refund of fees paid of full course fee payment. The 50% retained by Jack Australia is required to cover the cost of staff, resources, and lost revenue from potential students wanting to enrol/ attend the course.
Students who cancel their enrolment after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of any fees.
Charges
Jack Australia may levy some miscellaneous charges for services.
These may include:
Re-issuing a certificate after it has been initially issued to a student.
Replacing issued learning materials which the student has lost or damaged
Re-assessment services
Student complaints about fees or refunds
Students who are unhappy with Jack Australia’s arrangements for the collection and refunding of tuition fees are entitled to lodge a complaint.

Our training location is in Sydney at Riverstone in North Western Sydney.
We are located within close proximity to Riverstone railway station, 1km walk to our training site from the train station. Or approximately 20-30 minutes drive from Parramatta, Blacktown, and Windsor or 5 minute drive from Rouse hill Town centre.
Please note that if you are using GPS, be sure type in Riverstone Parade, as there is a Riverstone Road near by. However, if using Google Maps, best to type in Riverstone Business Park, as this will be easily located.
